This is an exciting time to join Virgin Media’s customer insight and analytics function as you will be given a unique opportunity to lead a pivotal team of forecasting analysts and econometric modellers who measure and optimise marketing spend.

Role purpose

While we expect that candidates will have a background in forecasting and analytics, the role of Head of Marketing Effectiveness and Econometrics is strategic in nature and will act as a key focal point across marketing and commercial divisions. You will be the voice of the division up to and including executive directors.

The team you will lead commercialises predictive and descriptive models in order to forecast, measure and optimise ATL and BTL marketing spend. This is formed around three core areas:

* Forecasting customer demand through calls and online visits to influence annual planning, call centre planning, and sales performance
* Measure: creating frameworks to forensically assess the effectiveness of every marketing pound spent across ATL and BTL. Working in partnership with finance, marketing and commercial to agree optimal spend per media
* Econometrics: develop, own, and embed econometrics into budget planning, forecasting, and planning decisions

Principle Responsibilities
* Leadership will play a key part in this role. Although this position may naturally lend itself to people with a hands-on background in forecasting and econometrics, we are looking in this position for a credible leader of people that can develop, own and transform the entire marketing effectiveness agenda for Virgin Media
* To be comfortable in presenting findings all the way up to executive director level
* To be an engagement lead across the business for insight and modelling

Skills and Competencies Required
* Significant experience of leading successful effectiveness and econometrics teams for transactional, data rich organisation
* Expert in forecasting techniques and predictive modelling gained from managing teams with these skills and/or first-hand experience from earlier in your career
* Excellent stakeholder management and consultative skills. Proven experience of operating to executive level but also be equally able to adapt style to different audiences

* Excellent understanding of the application of big data and analytical best practice, tools and an understanding of the latest industry techniques

* Familiarity with emerging technologies and their impact on analytics and user behaviour
* Ability to clearly communicate actionable insights and complex findings to senior stakeholders
