This is an exciting time to join Virgin Media as a Senior Data Analyst as you will play a major role in delivering the DIS agenda to extract maximum business value from the multiple datasets across multiple platforms in VM using various BI tools.

We are delivering the biggest investment in the UK’s digital infrastructure for over a decade, with a £3bn programme to extend our ultrafast broadband network and brilliant Virgin TV to 17 million homes and businesses. Although we are looking at candidates at all levels of experience for this role, it would perhaps suit individuals who have recently completed (or nearing the end of) a graduate programme that has been heavily focused around BI and data analytics.

Role Purpose

The consumer insight & analytics area is a new organisation recently formed through the merging of a number of data-led teams. The core purpose of the function is to transform current capabilities to drive competitive advantage through performing deep analytics in order to provide actionable insight and cross-channel communications.

As part of this function, the data insight solutions team has the remit to drive the data intelligence agenda for the wider group to ensure maximum value is gained from its data across the business:
* Investigate and develop new datasets using various BI tools to support the wider function
* Collaborate across the business to develop relationships with data partners to develop a holistic customer view
* Collaborate with the information commissioners across Virgin Media to ensure all data policies meet with key data protection regulations
* Identify relevant technology and tool trends to ensuring best in class capabilities and techniques are made available to drive competitive advantage
* Collaborate with technology to ensure world class deliveries and portals are available to business users
* Produce ad hoc analysis for the business where required
* Develop and consolidate all supporting documentation as part of any delivery

Key Accountabilities
* To help transform the data intelligence environment for the Virgin Media consumer division through development of various analytically-focussed products
* To investigate, question and derive value from large datasets, and to challenge discrepancies within it
* Help develop and implement value enhancing business outputs to drive a stepwise change in revenue growth

* To ‘productionalise’ data to be used to support the wider function in analytics and visualisation

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
* Experience of providing analytical insights in a large, data rich organisation
* Expert in SQL
* Knowledge of working around very large data sets
* Expert understanding of big data and BI best practice, tools, and understanding of latest industry techniques
* Excellent stakeholder management and consultative skills. Proven experience of delivering to senior audiences but equally able to adapt style when required
