Our commercial function acts as the architect of our revenue growth in the consumer division through customer value propositioning, proposition development and design, base management, pricing, go-to-market activity and forecasting. The team works cross-functionally to lead process design which creates our portfolio of profit-maximising products and packages, leading to growth in operating cash flow increases our NPS and optimises ROI.

The role

Responsible for channel specific trading. This includes tracking of performance across a range of different metrics (sales, product holding, revenue, average Arpu, premium attach etc.) as well as overseeing the end-to-end execution of bringing successful channel specific propositions to market by working with the Sales teams to develop plans to grow both volume and revenue by identify risks/opportunities.  

Key accountabilities

  • Support the Senior Commercial Manager in all necessary activities relating to specific channel activity. These would include the ownership of the relationship with the Retail, 3rd Party and Direct channels as well as all advocacy offers used to promote loyalty of current staff and customers 
  • Tracking the trading performance of specific channels across a range of different metrics (sales, product holding, revenue, average Arpu, premium attach etc.) to share with the channels and with the wider Commercial team identifying trends and opportunities 
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales channels to understand what the current and upcoming opportunities and threats are and design commercial propositions to maximise / minimise these
  • Assess the commercial and financial viability of all new proposition proposals by owning the full business casing of them to assess their impact on sales, product mix and a range of financial metrics 
  • Provide recommendations based on the business case and a wider commercial impact assessment
  • Present confidently to the Finance team the business case and recommendations
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of bringing these new propositions successfully to market by working with a variety of stakeholders across the business including Delivery, Sales, Digital, Legal, Marketing and Finance teams 
  • Once launched assess the impact of the proposition changes to share with the wider Commercial team
  • Monitor these propositions in life to ensure that they continue to drive the desired customer behaviour 
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the rolling quarterly Go To Market plan for acquisition in the specific channels to ensure a coordinated approach
  • Work closely with Competitor Intelligence team to assess competitive landscape and anticipate risks and opportunities to Virgin Media and design appropriate propositions to respond
  • Work closely with the Base Management team to analyse in-life performance of new customers after joining and the impact at end of offer to inform acquisition strategy 
  • Focus on the Advocacy offer set (Refer a Friend, Mates Rates, Partner Rates) to maximise opportunity and design propositions to grow both volume and revenue in this area
  • Time horizon for the team is generally 0 to 6 months i.e. the next two quarters
