Virgin Media is currently searching for an experienced Finance Manager to work with us here in Bradford in our Group Control finance team.

What’s the purpose of this role?

Within this role, you’ll report directly into the Senior Finance Manager for Group Control team. The Financial Manager is a highly motivated self-starter with supervisory skills and experience and is a strong entrepreneurial partner to other departments, continuously improving processes, systems and procedures in order to manage a fast growing area at Liberty Global Europe central operations. In this role, you’ll provide continuous financial support for the Financial Control group, ensuring a timely submission of financial data to the Technical organizations and other stakeholders.

What does the job entail?

Your duties will be wide ranging in this role, but ultimately you will be responsible for:

•    Supporting and implementing the Group’s global finance strategy, influencing leadership in the design, definition and planning of the finance strategy.•    Perform month-end activities, including accruals, prepayments, commitments,  and drafting journal entries, other month end procedures.•    Manage the development of central policies and procedures for the functions in the LGO and LGE Corporate Offices in Amsterdam to support financial performance and controls across the central organization•    Operate effectively in a challenging work environment (organization, processes and procedures) with adherence to tight deadlines.•    Implement an effective internal control framework and ensure compliance.•    Make recommendations to improve internal controls and develop procedures in support of changing business activities•    Initiate the standardization of processes and procedures. Initiate and implement improvements where required•    Build good working relationships with all relevant parties•    Manage the financial reporting process including assistance in month end closing procedures. Initiate and implement improvements where required.•    Ensures consistent analytics on validated transactional accounting data  and a consistent and smooth hand over to Group Control and External Reporting.•    Critical involvement in intercompany transactions from an impact on the finance function perspective.•    Analyze business processes and create and support detailed costing analysis•    Ensure timely communication of relevant information to wider stakeholders.•    Interaction with other stakeholders of the company to correct performance shortfalls and develop the business, adding value.

•    University degree with accounting, finance or business administration emphasis or equivalent. Accounting qualification ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA.•    Experience of working in a dynamic, fast-paced and multinational finance environment,•    Relevant experience of working in a complex technology-driven, project-based environment working to deadlines.•    Knowledge and experience with SOX control frameworks.•    Good working knowledge of MS Office Excel and PowerPoint.•    Ability to work to other accounting standards, primarily US GAAP and Dutch GAAP.
