Virgin Media is currently searching for a Finance Manager to work with us here in Bradford, looking after Virgin Media Ireland. This is an exciting time to join Virgin Media as a Finance Manager - Finance are responsible for the development and implementation of overall financial strategy from day to day controls, accounting policies and procedures to managing relationships with the financial community.

Management Accounts deliver accurate internal reporting and analysis to internal and external stakeholders in Group Financial Control, Group Financial Planning and Analysis, Commercial Finance, external Auditors and the wider Accounting Services team, to support timely decision making and ensure the accuracy of external reporting.  Key activities of the department are:•    Provide accurate monthly and quarterly results to agreed group timescales and in line with agreed group accounting policy•    Improve internal efficiencies through process improvement and collaboration with internal and external teams•    Flexing resource and outputs to meet the changing needs of our customers•    Identify and deliver revenue and cost assurance activities for the division.

What’s the purpose of this role?

To ensure provision of accurate monthly and quarterly reporting, and provide analysis & reconciliation review in line with agreed timescales and group policy as well as identifying, managing and communicating operational and financial risks and process changes for your area. You will also be managing internal and external stakeholder relationships that impact your monthly processes.

What does the job entail?

We are looking for a Finance Manager to help us communicate the numbers to the wider business and beyond. It’s not just your job to report on the numbers however, you will have free reign to add real value to the way we do things through additional responsibilities and ad hoc project work.

Your duties will be wide ranging, but ultimately you will be responsible for:

•    Work with internal and outsourced colleagues, monitoring completion of accounting tasks in your area.•    Overseas travel to build relationships with colleagues•    Identify and manage operational and financial risks to OCF and Balance Sheet accounts•    Processes & change: Understand and be an expert on the processes within your area, and liaise with stakeholders to understand business changes and strategy, and take responsibility to work with them and the outsourced team to amend processes to ensure accounting remains accurate and timely, and other reporting requirements are addressed.•    Profit and Loss/Capex Accounting: review and present divisional reporting packs for internal stakeholders in line with required deadlines, plus any other adhoc reporting as required.•    Profit and Loss/Capex Accounting: provide variance analysis with meaningful commercial commentary•    Profit and Loss/Capex Accounting: work with Group Financial Control and Policy to ensure GAAP compliant policies are applied to profit and loss accounting entries•    Profit and Loss/Capex Accounting: identify and communicate non-recurring transactions•    Balance Sheet: responsible for  Balance Sheet accounts, including review of reconciliations and ensuring adequate assurance activities have occurred, commercial and transactional completeness of commentary, and summarisation of key items•    Control: responsible for SOX control completion and effectiveness, payment approvals, chart of accounts mappings and governance changes for your area, and ownership of audit relationship for your area
