What is the job?

The Principal Core Network Engineer will be a key member of the Core Network IP Engineering team and be responsible for Core Network IP Infrastructure & Solution design aspects of End-2-End services across both Virgin Media and Liberty Global operations across Europe.

This will involve working on all aspects of the network including Core, PE, Transit and Ethernet domains where you will also help / influence other departments who work on edge components of the network in order to create clear network designs which the Operational teams will then support.

You will also act as the Tech Lead for various programmes of work, helping to shape and pull the different technical teams together to ensure a coherent solution is understood and translated to project teams and provide scopes of works for new infrastructure platforms.

Are you right for the role?
To be successful in this role you will have the below knowledge and experience:

- Bachelor's Degree or other technical studies or able to demonstrate a similar level of ability from industrial experience.

- Proven experience in a Service Providers network environment.

- JNCIP+ / CCNP+ / NRS-II+ accreditation beneficial

- Experience gained within a large commercial environment.

- Deep understanding and experience of relevant technologies and systems.

- Familiarisation with Juniper, Cisco and/or Nokia platforms and OS.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to form strong business relationships across multiple locations.

- Timeliness in all actions with quality consciousness towards services received and provided.

- Experience of analysing, assessing and resolving complex technology requirements, problems and issues.

- Strong experience in designing, integrating and deploying security solutions in a dynamic, high pressure working environment.

- Demonstrate strong influencing and persuading skills, encourage colleagues and teams to change established processes and achieve improvements and best practice.

Salary: Up to £65,000 (depending on experience)

Bonus: Up to 15%
Pension: Up to 20% (matched up to 10% employee, 10% employer)
