At Virgin Media, our Network Planners are responsible for keeping our special network ahead of the game – they liaise with internal departments and our valued business customers to make sure their needs are met.
All our Apprenticeship Schemes are offered on permanent contracts. And, around 90% of apprentices stay on with us – while others will have gathered transferable skills that are sought after elsewhere.

Our Network Planner Apprenticeship Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for both women and men to kickstart their careers with one of the UK’s most forward-thinking and fun-loving companies.
With the heartfelt guidance of your scheme mentor and other workmates, you’ll learn how to produce detailed, accurate and efficient plans to get our leading services out to customers. You’ll also find out how to put together all the required drawings and information that our contract partners need to get the job done!
As well as discussing our customers’ needs – by visiting their premises and arranging surveys to make sure they get what they want, when they need it – you’ll also be working closely with our internal teams, providing information that will help us do business better.
Ensuring design documents are planned to specification, handling multiple customer orders, controlling costs and coming up with new ways of making our customers’ lives easier are also hallmarks of a successful Network Planner.
How are you going to get there?
Our Network Planner role does involve understanding detailed technical specifications. A Level 2 diploma in a related field (IT, Telecoms, Electrics) or previous experience working with HFC or Fibre Networks would be a bonus, but not essential.
As a technical role, you will need to have five GSCEs, including Maths, English and Science (Grade C or above, Grade 4-9). But we’re just as interested in women and men who share a passion for planning and are willing to learn!
If you are a devil for detail, able to use multiple systems and hell bent on providing heavenly customer service that’s on time and on budget, then this role is tailormade for you!

Apprenticeship: Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT & Telecoms Professionals
Duration: 24 months
Requirements: 5 GSCEs, including Maths, English and Science (Grade C or above, Grade 4-9). Completion of Level 2 Functional Skills exams also required unless exempt.
Salary: £18,000 + salary progression based on performance + amazing benefits
