Business Planner

Virgin Media Business Planners design and help develop solutions that make sure our leading network infrastructure stays ahead of the game

As one of three main customer facing roles within Virgin Media Business (VMB), our Business Planner Apprenticeship Scheme encourages both women and men to gain a complete understanding of our award-winning business practices – while making sure our customers are cared for.

All of our Apprenticeship Schemes are offered on permanent contracts. And, around 90% of apprentices stay on with us – while others will have gained transferable skills that are sought after elsewhere.

Let’s talk about what you’ll be doing…

A Business Planner is an integral role that’s essentially the link between the design and build of our network solutions and their physical delivery to our valued customers.

With heartfelt guidance from your scheme mentor and other workmates, you’ll gain experience and exposure across our creative design and planning activities that incorporate telephone, data, digital TV and our super-fast broadband networks.

We want bright sparks who can take ownership of technical solutions from beginning to end; making sure our products are constructed and installed properly, meeting delivery dates – and making our VMB customers happy!

You’ll take part in planning the most efficient routes for our ground-breaking fibre network and developing Network Upgrades, including customised solutions, that need to be kept a constant eye on.

You’ll also need to be able to establish internal and external relationships, working closely with colleagues and our contract partners – using surveys and quality audits that we’ll train you to conduct – to make sure our performance never dips.

How are you going to get there?

We have 14 Business Planner Apprenticeship roles open to women and men who are comfortable with cutting edge technology, enjoy solving problems and have a talent for talking to people – while reflecting our forward-thinking and fun-loving brand.

As a technical role, you’ll need to have five GSCEs, including Maths, English and Science (Grade C or above, Grade 4-9). But, a willingness to learn and an affection for problem solving are more important than qualifications.

If you’re a master communicator with excellent customer service skills who can work as part of a supportive team to come up with exciting solutions, this is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart your career.

So, what can we do for you?

During the scheme, you’ll gain all the experience, understanding and exposure you’ll need to move onwards and upwards into more senior roles – and we’ll pay you a decent salary with amazing benefits along the way!

At Virgin Media we’re committed to nurturing an inclusive culture, which includes a long-term vision of achieving 50/50 gender parity by 2025. It’s super-important for us to reflect equality and diversity in our workforce, especially for STEM* based subjects – and that’s why we’re encouraging women as much as men to come and hone their technical skills with us.

We are looking for talented people who get a thrill from untangling problems, putting smiles on customers’ faces and have a head full of innovative ideas to share.

Join Virgin Media… Come and be a part of something special!
