Network Implementation Engineer Apprentice

Do you want to be a part of keeping our network up and running? Join us on our Network Implementation Engineer Apprentice Scheme and you study, learn and earn a professional qualification all in one!

Keep our network running seamlessly

Working in our Core Connectivity Network Engineering & Delivery division, our Network Implementation Engineers implement software and configurations across our business. They’re not out in the streets, but remotely look after our broadband, TV, IP and optical networks. As an apprentice, you will learn the ropes and gain experience in teams across the division to later progress your career as a Network Implementation Engineer.

Build skills for the future

Network Implementation Engineer Apprentices will work with divisions across the business to deliver network implementation. Day-to-day, you will be logging into equipment remotely, applying configurations to make sure they’re running efficiently to deliver our super-fast network to customers. You could find yourself:

  • Deploying network configurations and software updates following requirements for network capacity build upgrades, among many others
  • Collaborating with the Optical Team to develop configuration standards, documentation and working practices for configuration upgrades, all while meeting regulations and standards
  • Completing incident and problem management support until projects are completed

What we look for

During this scheme, you’ll balance multiple projects at once, so it’s important you’re organised and can lead these effectively. The responsibilities you take on will have a huge impact on our business, so you’ll need to pay attention to detail and strive to quickly resolve any problems that arise. Other skills that would help you succeed include drive to learn and a real passion and curiosity about technology.

We’re 100% committed to having a workforce that represents every part of our society, so we’re keen to hear from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances. The only barrier to applying would be if you didn’t have the right to work in the UK and were unable to obtain it without our support.

What’s in it for you

A starting salary of £23,000 with plenty of opportunities to progress throughout the scheme, with a permanent position upon successful completion of your apprenticeship. You’ll work towards a Level 4 Network Engineer qualification, gaining invaluable skills and experience along the way. Plus, you’ll be able to enjoy our benefits, including:

  • 25 days holiday
  • Your birthday off every year
  • Employee discounts on mobile, broadband and TV services

…and loads more!

What is involved with studying for an apprenticeship?

Your apprenticeship is made up of learning on the job, but also gaining the academic skills to put into practice in your day-to-day job. As a result, you’ll complete the apprenticeship as part of a structured learning programme alongside working in the role. The learning programme is made up of a suite of modules and milestones and you’ll be required to evidence your work against these modules via tasks and assignments. For some apprenticeships, you may also undertake additional technical qualifications, which include studying for, and taking an exam. Once you have completed your modules and milestones, you’ll then move to your End Point Assessment (EPA) which is typically made up of an interview and a project. Once you pass this stage, you will receive your apprenticeship qualification with us.
