Keep our network running seamlessly
Network Engineers are the experts that go out in our Virgin Media vans and look after our broadband network. They install and repair our services in business customer sites as well as look after the process from the street side cabinets all the way back to our technical sites. This team plays a crucial part in installing and supporting the delivery of business and consumer products and networks, and they’re looking for new apprentices to join them, up and down the country.

Build skills for the future
Working in the Field Engineering & Operations division, you’ll be working on street cabinets and in network sites, fixing and installing our services to ensure smooth delivery to our business and residential customers. One of your main responsibilities will be to challenge and influence partners and build agencies while working closely with performance teams to improve the quality of our network. Without the work that this team do, our network wouldn’t be able to run as efficiently as it does, which would be catastrophic to our business. Other responsibilities you could take on include:

  • Undertaking electrical safety and regulatory maintenance
  • Driving a strong performance culture with clear objectives that align to the broader business strategy
  • Ensuring customers and partners are updated on engineering activity that is going on, with plenty of time
  • Installing and maintaining the latest Business data networking and residential broadband technologies

What we look for
This team is responsible for keeping our network going, so they’ll often be found working in poor weather conditions or even at heights – you should be comfortable doing this too. They also need to go wherever support is needed, so it’s important that you’re comfortable travelling in the region. Other qualities that would help you be successful in this role include:

  • Problem solving
  • Passion to develop and learn
  • Independent working
  • Team working

We’re 100% committed to having a workforce that represents every part of our society, so we’re keen to hear from candidates of all backgrounds and circumstances. The only barrier to applying would be if you didn’t have the right to work in the UK and were unable to obtain it without our support.

What’s in it for you
You’ll get an amazing starting salary of £23,000, invaluable experience and a new set of skills while on this apprenticeship. Throughout, there will be great opportunities to develop your career and salary, including working towards a Level 4 Network Engineer qualification. As you’ll be travelling regularly, we’ll also provide a company van so you can get around. You can also enjoy our amazing benefits, such as:

  • 25 days holiday
  • Your birthday off every year
  • Employee discounts on mobile, broadband and TV services

…and loads more!

What is involved with studying for an apprenticeship?
Your apprenticeship is made up of learning on the job, but also gaining the academic skills to put into practice in your day-to-day job. As a result, you’ll complete the apprenticeship as part of a structured learning programme alongside working in the role. The learning programme is made up of a suite of modules and milestones and you’ll be required to evidence your work against these modules via tasks and assignments. For some apprenticeships, you may also undertake additional technical qualifications, which include studying for, and taking an exam. Once you have completed your modules and milestones, you’ll then move to your End Point Assessment (EPA) which is typically made up of an interview and a project. Once you pass this stage, you will receive your apprenticeship qualification with us.
