Expressing gratitude, or as we like to call it – showing some love, does wonders for your overall health and wellbeing.

Studies have shown that saying a simple “thank you” can have a drastic and long-lasting effect on a person’s life, improving wellbeing, mood, fatigue and even helping you sleep better.

Feeling appreciated by others is something we can all relate to, it offers us a sense of belonging, value and, acceptance. And sometimes it’s the smallest acts, like saying “thank you” that can make the biggest difference to someone.

At Virgin Media, building connections that really matter is something we take seriously, and we are all about showing the love. Using our internal recognition tool – Shout – our people send their gratitude daily for all different reasons, and what better time to share with you all than today, Employee Appreciation Day.

Heart eye emojis all around. These are just a few of the great things our people say about each other. These last 12 months have been some of the hardest for each of us, times have been turbulent and uncertain so making the most of the simple things that can boost our mental health is essential.

When we go out of our way to notice and sincerely acknowledge something praiseworthy in someone else, we also raise our morale and wellbeing. It’s a win-win situation. So, if you love what somebody’s done, no matter how big or small, show them some love today.
