Debs, great to meet you! Can you tell me a little about what you do at Virgin Media?

Well. I’m responsible for the rapid expansion of the outbound sales team. We started in February 2014 with just nine people cold calling, and now the team has grown exponentially over the past two years, and we are still growing.

That’s an impressive!

Well the team is doing so well. We recently did an internal study to see how happy and engaged the team is and I am delighted to say that we have a 98% career engagement rate.

That’s really good, what do you think Virgin Media is doing that keeps it’s people so happy and engaged?

Well, breaking it down, we give people what they need to succeed, coaching them, helping them to set personal goals. Working at Virgin Media is much more than just ticking box, it’s about echoing the voice of the brand.

How do you mean?

We help people to invest in themselves and one of the new tools I’ve been working on is called the inspirational library – a research system where the sales team can pick up new tips and knowledge. The idea is to help take someone who is a decent sales person and craft him or her into an exceptional sales person.

Like a knowledge bank?

Exactly, and it’s available to everyone here to use to improve their skills. Everyone gets great training at Virgin, but those that want t be really exceptional will find this a great way to study from the real sales masters.

What do you want to achieve at Virgin Media?

(Laughs) Well my personal goal is to go on great holidays! By giving 100% here I can see the fruits of my hard work. I’m heading to Minorca later this year!
