Levelling the field in our tech community

In 2017, we announced our long-term vision of achieving gender parity by 2025. Striving hard to accomplish this, we have launched our latest campaign #becausewhynot with the aim to attract more female Residential Field Technicians into our business.

#becausewhynot is a pilot scheme which, has initially been launched in four locations around the country – Cardiff, Portsmouth, Plymouth, and Flitwick in Bedfordshire – with the aspiration to roll out nationally if it’s successful.

We have noticed that traditionally, our Field Tech positions have been more male-dominated. Therefore, it’s super important for us to reflect the communities that we serve – not just for Field Technicians but also for STEM roles in general and this is just the beginning.

We are changing for the better and addressing the current gender imbalance in our tech community. This is also a fantastic opportunity for women looking to start a career with one of the UK’s leading telecoms providers.

We are one step closer to a brighter more inclusive future at Virgin Media.
