As well as building your knowledge through on-the-job learning, we’ll give you a structured Core Development Programme covering interpersonal skills. We’ll deliver this via a range of formal and digital workshops and training, to complement what you learn on your placements including any techical savvy you might need. We believe these will provide you with a bedrock of skills, knowledge and behaviours that you’ll need to be successful – at Virgin Media and beyond.

If it’s relevant to your development and the graduate scheme you’re on, we’ll give you the financial support and study leave you need to gain a professional qualification. And whether you’re a graduate or an intern, you’ll have your own development plan from the start, but it’ll be down to you to seize every single learning opportunity that comes your way!

Your induction

Whether you’re a graduate or an intern, we’ll be in touch with you all the way from hire to induction. Even before you join we’ll invite you along to events to keep you up-to-date with all things Virgin Media.

And the training and support starts from the minute you walk in the door, with our packed induction programme. As well as giving you a good understanding of our company, our culture and how we work, you’ll get to meet everyone you need to know to help you start building new friendships as well as your network. You’ll also be inspired by hearing some of our board members and directors talking about their career history.

During the first few months, we’ll make sure you get to know our customers. Whether it’s on a ride out with one of our engineers, visiting a retail store or a customer call centre, you’ll find out what it’s really like to work on the front line – a key part of our business.

Your support network

All our graduates and interns benefit from the advice and support of a dedicated programme network. So we’ll get you together with a technical buddy to help you get settled in your role. And, whilst your line manager will support you on a day-to-day basis, they’ll also help you review your experiences and performance at the end of each placement and put it all into your development plan. You’ll also have support from the talent team to help you get the most out of everything. Our graduates also have a business manager to offer technical support throughout the programme when it comes to thinking about things like placement options and career advice.

As part of the programme we also help you to keep in touch with the whole graduate and intern community – whether that’s through our online social space or regular programme events.

After the programme

By the end of our graduate programme you’ll know the business like the back of your hand. You’ll have a good idea of what your future with us could have in store. You’ll have had lots of fun along the way too. So you’ll be all set for your first post-programme role here. And with Virgin Media you can go wherever your ambition takes you.

And what happens after your internship? If you make a success of it, we’ll give you the opportunity to apply for fast tracking onto our graduate programme.
