What’s it all about
You’ll be joining our busy Technology & Innovation division, which looks after the design, delivery, operation and maintenance of Virgin Media’s networks and platforms – including the fastest broadband network in Ireland.
Over two action-packed years, you’ll work with Access Engineering and Core Network Operations teams on everything from preventative maintenance to troubleshooting and problem-solving. And there will be lots of ad hoc projects for you to get your teeth into as well. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn from subject matter experts while gaining exposure and experience across a wide range of business areas covering TV, broadband, mobile and fixed voice communications.
Over two action-packed years, you’ll learn how to operate broadcast equipment and systems in three key areas: Transmission, Studio Operations and Ingest (where we coordinate, record and distribute all incoming feeds relating to news gathering and programme content). You’ll also become expert at carrying out updates and repairs.
How are you going to get there?
You must have or be expecting to achieve a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a subject related to engineering, electronics or telecommunications. You must also be eligible to work in Ireland for the duration of the programme. But what we’re really interested in is the skills and qualities you can bring to the role. We’re looking for graduates who have:
- Great communication and organization skills
- An inquisitive mind and first-class problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible and embrace change
- Ideally programming skills and knowledge of scripting tools
