What’s it all about
You’ll be joining our busy, multi-disciplinary Engineering team, which makes sure that Virgin Media Television programmes are broadcast on time and to the highest quality.
Over two action-packed years, you’ll learn how to operate broadcast equipment and systems in three key areas: Transmission, Studio Operations and Ingest (where we coordinate, record and distribute all incoming feeds relating to news gathering and programme content). You’ll also become expert at carrying out updates and repairs.
How are you going to get there?
You must have or be expecting to achieve a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a subject related to broadcast production technology, broadcast engineering, media technology or similar. You must also be eligible to work in Ireland for the duration of the programme. But what we’re really interested in is the experience and skills you can bring to the role. We’re looking for graduates who have:
- Excellent knowledge of audio and visual principles, television production processes and file-based technologies used for delivery, viewing and storage
- Operational knowledge of production switching systems, audio consoles, studio camera operations or production
- An understanding of Health and Safety in a technical operational environment
- An inquisitive mind and first-class problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be flexible and embrace change
