Having a job with Virgin Media on the Business Graduate Scheme is many things. One of which is definitely not boring. My placements have ranged from analysing sales calls and reports, to doing some undercover research about competitors in the market to my current and final placement in Business Branding before rolling off to the big bad world of permanent jobs.
My placement on the Branding Team allowed me to work on some of the biggest and best campaigns in the Start-Up and SME market place. One of my highlights on this placement was definitely working at the live finale of Voom 2016. I was backstage managing the greenroom – ensuring all our celebrity judges were in the right place at the right time, making sure all our reporters were interviewing the right person and managing our volunteer staff (which was mainly grads and interns!) at the event. Being in a green room surrounded by Tyra Banks’ team (including her makeup artist hairdresser and 2 PA’s!) was incredible. Being exposed to Richard Branson and some of the best business people in the world is truly inspiring – I even managed to grab some cheeky selfies with Tyra and Richard. However what really left an impact with me from working on this placement was how much our company really cares about small businesses and entrepreneurs. The level of contact and support we have offered our voom entrants is amazing and it’s on a really personal level – knowing you are part of a team literally helping the UK grow the best businesses is so exciting. We are far beyond a telecommunications company and that’s why we are the best.
