On the 28th January 2015 I attended a careers day which was facilitated by Virgin Media in the Bellshill Call Centre along with Andy Morrison the Apprenticeship Manager and two other colleagues who work in the training and support department.
The main objective of this event was to give other areas of the business an insight into the different departments within the company and also information around career progression.
A number of different branches of the business took part in this event including Mobile, Provide,Customer Care and Access. I was there representing the access department as an ex Apprentice service technician and now currently an Apprentice Planner. During the course of the day I was able to talk about the apprenticeship programme that Virgin Media offer and talk about my past experience and how I have now progressed into a different department.
Throughout the day around 200 people passed by our stand enquiring about a career within Virgin Media and also wanting an insight into the technical side of the job and what is evolved in our day to day job.
On the 5th of January 2015 I took the next step in my career progression when I moved into the planning department through the apprenticeship programme.
I have now been with planning for 2 months and within that time I have been to Eagle Court in Birmingham twice, firstly for out induction and more recently along with my fellow apprentices we were there for the huge Investment announcement were we got the opportunity to meet David Cameron and be part of the memorable day.
