About the role
Our Solution Design team is looking for an experienced Technical Design Authority to join Virgin Media Business. If successful in your application, you will be working as part of the team responsible for supporting our most complex customers throughout the service lifecycle and becoming engrained within the customer environment as a trusted advisor, influencing their strategy through the design, provision and integration of solutions.
Managing activities as a key stakeholder, you will lead the virtual teams to ensure customer expectations are met, ensuring all customer specific technical documentation is completed, updated and stored in-line with our policies to enable effective in life management and support future exit activity if required.
As our environment continues to evolve you will also support the growth of the team, our processes and our designs by supporting Sales and In-Life colleagues to ensure our revenue and NPS ambitions are achieved and ensure where possible that professional services are applied to maximise revenue.
What will you be accountable for?
Take accountability for the end to end technical design of your customer’s solution across all products and services. Where required, work with other technical and product teams within VMB to ensure that the customer’s solution is fully supported.
Act as TDA across all in life queries and issues, supporting the virtual account team (Service, Account, Bus Ops etc.) as required.
Work with your customer to understand how our solution underpins their business, and ensure that we are constantly evaluating the design in line with the customers’ business outcomes.
Ensure through the life of the contract that key elements of the design are maintained (Resilience, Security, Performance, etc.) - should a design issue occur, work with relevant stakeholder groups to mitigate any risk as quickly as possible, implementing tactical fixes if needed whilst delivering a strategic and permanent solution.
Work with customers to help define and manage customer change requests, ensuring that any changes are in line with the network design principles and do not compromise the customer experience.
Support the Project and Transition Management teams in the delivery and implementation of any new services, or upgrades to existing services of your customer solution.
Support the growth of new business opportunities within your customer by identifying potential solution changes to meet customer need and demand, ensuring that all opportunities are validated with the virtual account team and appropriately logged.
The must have’s
Strong experience in a customer facing and solution positioning environment is essential, including experience of internal and external senior level interaction at a technical level.
Major vendor (ideally Cisco) certified to Associate level as a minimum with Professional / Architect qualifications preferred.
Knowledge and experience designing and integrating LAN, WAN and Voice infrastructures and services.
Knowledge and experience of Information Security standards and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge and experience of working to industry framework principles such as ITIL, SIAM, PRINCE2 and TOGAF.
Demonstrable ability to understand and present complex detailed solutions, from architecture design through decommissioning and exit services.
Demonstrable experience of leading virtual teams, working collaboratively to deliver business outcomes.
Flexibility to handle extensive UK travel and overnight stays. The travelling maybe nationwide on a weekly basis.
