About the role

We have a new and exciting opportunity to join Virgin Media Business as a Social Value Development Executive. Within this role, you will play a pivotal part in the success of our Commercial team, by providing top-tier consultancy and support throughout the entire end-to-end bid process, which includes the development of multi-faceted  social and corporate responsibility solutions for some of our most sophisticated and complex Public Sector opportunities.

As one of our highly valued social value specialists, you’ll work closely with our Commercial, Bid and People teams to design industry leading social value propositions to meet Public Sector procurement guidelines (Social Value Act 2012). These solutions will sit alongside our technical solutions and position us as the choice provider when tendering for business, whilst also optimising our social value and sustainability efforts. Having a passion for Corporate and Social Responsibility will be key, as you'll be accountable for not only ensuring economic, social, and environmental well-being throughout the customer consultation process, but also in tracking and reporting on the successful delivery of our agreed social value obligations. Occasionally, you may also be asked to provide guidance on the latest government policy decisions, so come prepared to research, prepare and share market insight and demonstrate how these may affect the development of our products, partners, and brand positioning.

The must haves

  • Experience of working in a similar capacity, responsible for taking ownership of aspects of Social Value and leading workstreams to deliver solution and delivery outcomes

  • A demonstrable history of building meaningful, collaborative partner relationships, across all levels of seniority – we want to see your keenness to engage phenomenal team play with a diverse variety of people!

  • Strong presentation skills, with demonstrable experience of presenting to senior management, both internally and externally.

  • A demonstrable interest and passion for Corporate and Social Responsibility, sustainability, and the environment

Other stuff we’re looking for

  • A good understanding of Public Sector procurement methods and practices, and ideally a knowledge of relevant purchasing frameworks.

  • An understanding of Local Authority digital strategies would be useful, but not crucial.

  • An appreciation of how technology can improve socio-economic outcomes in communities.

  • Experience within the Telecoms sector would also be helpful, but it’s by no means a pre-requisite!
