About the role
We have a new and exciting opportunity to join Virgin Media Business as a Social Value Development Executive. Within this role, you will play a pivotal part in the success of our Commercial team, by providing top-tier consultancy and support throughout the entire end-to-end bid process, which includes the development of multi-faceted social and corporate responsibility solutions for some of our most sophisticated and complex Public Sector opportunities.
So that's what you'll get up to, but what about us?
Well, we're super proud of our history - we deliver innovative, high-quality networking and communication products, applications and services that break down the barriers facing UK organisations today. For over 20 years we’ve worked with organisations of all sizes across all sectors, both nationally and locally, helping them to meet new customer expectations and rise to challenging market conditions.
But it's not just what we do, but why we do it that really matters.
Our mission is to become the most recommended brand, by our people and our customers. A substantial part of that journey is about how we ensure that our forward-thinking people have a working environment in which they can truly belong and thrive. For us, it's absolutely critical that every single person can bring, and be, their whole selves at work, and we're working hard every day to achieve this.
Tell me more, tell me more…
As one of our highly valued social value specialists, you’ll work closely with our Commercial, Bid and People teams to design industry leading social value propositions to meet Public Sector procurement guidelines (Social Value Act 2012). These solutions will sit alongside our technical solutions and position us as the choice provider when tendering for business, whilst also optimising our social value and sustainability efforts. Having a passion for Corporate and Social Responsibility will be key, as you'll be accountable for not only ensuring economic, social, and environmental well-being throughout the customer consultation process, but also in tracking and reporting on the successful delivery of our agreed social value obligations. Occasionally, you may also be asked to provide guidance on the latest government policy decisions, so come prepared to research, prepare and share market insight and demonstrate how these may affect the development of our products, partners, and brand positioning.
The must haves
Experience of working in a similar capacity, responsible for taking ownership of aspects of Social Value and leading workstreams to deliver solution and delivery outcomes
A demonstrable history of building meaningful, collaborative partner relationships, across all levels of seniority – we want to see your keenness to engage phenomenal team play with a diverse variety of people!
Strong presentation skills, with demonstrable experience of presenting to senior management, both internally and externally.
A demonstrable interest and passion for Corporate and Social Responsibility, sustainability, and the environment
Other stuff we’re looking for
A good understanding of Public Sector procurement methods and practices, and ideally a knowledge of relevant purchasing frameworks.
An understanding of Local Authority digital strategies would be useful, but not crucial.
An appreciation of how technology can improve socio-economic outcomes in communities.
Experience within the Telecoms sector would also be helpful, but it’s by no means a pre-requisite!
What’s in it for you?
We know that benefits mean so much more than the 'stuff' we can give you, so we offer a wide range of support, rewards and tools - all passionate about helping you to prioritise what really matters.
All work and no play just isn't our style! We're already planning our future ways of working, for when life becomes a little more normal again. We're constantly evolving our approach to enable you to find a great work life balance.
If you go on to be successful in your application, some of the many benefits you'll get are:
25 days annual leave, plus UK Bank Holidays.
A defined contribution pension scheme, run by Fidelity, matched up to 10%.
An annual bonus of up to 15%, based on company performance.
Access to wellbeing benefits such as the Unmind App, personal medical cover (which you can opt to upgrade to cover loved ones) and critical illness cover.
Your birthday off every year, to treat yourself.
The option to buy and sell up to 5 days leave, to suit your personal needs.
If you think you've got some outstanding skills to offer us, and Virgin Media feels like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you. If your application is successful, the next steps of the process are likely to include an initial telephone conversation with a member of our Recruitment team, followed by a competency-based video interview with the Hiring Manager.
When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media family.
