About the role

The role:
Working as part of the traffic acquisition team, the Senior Technical SEO manager will plan and deliver the technical SEO strategy for both Virgin Media and O2. Reporting into the Head of Owned and Earned Traffic, this role will require an in-depth understanding of Technical SEO to the highest level.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that all optimisation changes are delivered through each workstream. Strong project management skills is a must and be adept at juggling a large number of tasks at once. The Technical SEO Manager will be a major part of delivering the owned and earned media strategy to maximise traffic and revenue growth.

You will work closely with the internal stakeholders, our central SEO team and the Outreach team in order to deliver the technical SEO roadmap and strategy. You will lead in the planning, co-ordinating, executing, testing and measuring the technical performance of the Virgin Media website for Cable and Mobile and the O2 website.

London (Hammersmith), Birmingham or Manchester with flexible working patterns to allow home remote working.

Key Responsibilities
● Defining and overseeing the delivery and implementation of technical, on-page and optimisations
● Identify key issues affecting SEO performance and actions required to turn around declining SEO performance
● Devising the SEO technical roadmap across Cable and Mobile for Virgin Media and O2
● Feeding into the SEO objectives such as visibility, traffic and forecast
● Regularly monitor, track and record site performance
● Feeding back to the central SEO Team and wider stakeholders on the technical performance of the site on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
● Manage the growth of your subteam with regular 121s, personal development plans, and training.
● Investigating and identifying new technical optimisation opportunities
● Managing wider stakeholder relationships and ensuring project timelines and deliverables are met
● Provide SEO recommendations and ensure best practices are being adhered to
● Put SEO delivery process in place as part of every project and optimisation strategy
● Test and review the staging environment for any new pages or release cycles ensuring no impact to SEO and recommendation have been implemented correctly
● Stay up to date with the latest search engine algorithm changes and SEO industry trends and regularly inform and educate the business on the importance of SEO

Skills & Experience
● You are a person that has strong technical SEO experience
● You ideally have experience managing small team
● You have worked with JS frameworks such as Angular and React and understand how to ensure the site is accessible for search engines.
● You understand are experienced in improving the page speed and performance metrics of a site
● You excel in identifying technical bugs and optimisations and prioritising accordingly to deliver value at speed
● You have experience working with developers and in sprints to push ideas through to delivery.
● You are highly analytical, using consumer, site and search data to drive growth.
● You should have an excellent knowledge of HTML and on-site web development, with the ability to understand the key changes required to improve site performance and manage this with on-site teams
● You are comfortable and keen to share the latest technical SEO best practices with team members and stakeholders.
● You can demonstrate a strong understanding of SEO tools like Botify, Screaming Frog, Content King, Ahrefs, GSC and SEO Monitor
● You understand the importance of log file analysis, crawl budgets and indexability issues and can understand how Googlebot is behaving across websites.
● You have experience in web analytic platforms like Google Analytics & Adobe Analytics
