About The Role
As part of our gigantic Fibre Network Expansion Programme, the role of Quantity Surveyor is a red-hot opportunity to help deliver our complex and high-profile nationwide growth. Virgin Media is a key supplier to both Consumer and Business customers delivering Fibre based services, and we are therefore looking to invest in the right candidates to help maximise our growth ambitions.
Within this role, you will be primarily responsible for the undertaking of contract and cost administration required on all Network Expansion Infill projects.
What will you be accountable for?
Providing cost management support on contracts across multiple VM business units.
Monitoring the regional commercial mailbox for incoming payment applications, variations and final accounts from Contractors and ensuring that they are processed within the appropriate Service Level Agreement.
Preparing of Work Order Contract Data Part 1 for projects and annual programmes of work.
Ensuring all projects have gone through the Early Contractor Involvement process.
Assessing and validating payment applications, variations, and final accounts from contractors to ensure submissions are compliant.
Performing spot audits on previously approved payments/variations/final accounts and feedback to business units.
Supporting the Build Manager in reviewing contractor quotations for Compensation Events on projects.
Supporting the Commercial Manager in assessing contractor claims, as well as assessing risk allowance estimates for the Early Warning Register.
Creating and maintaining cost reports for each project/workstream with regularly updated written narrative providing precise explanations for forecast cost position vs. budget, outstanding variations, WIP and premise number changes.
Working with the Commercial Manager to produce explanatory commentaries on project commercials for fortnightly cost reports.
Site visits to carry out measurement audits and validate measures being taken by Build Engineers are accurate.
The must have’s
Demonstrable surveying experience ideally gained within major infrastructure programmes.
Experience of managing NEC project costs.
Excellent numeracy and accuracy in presenting cost data, particularly in reconciling cost data with project progress to produce valuable insights.
Competent liaising with all level of seniority, including by not limited to, Project Managers and Contractors.
A demonstrable understanding and experience of commercial estimating and benchmarking.
