About the role

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity to join Virgin Media 02 as a Principal Delivery Engineer!  Within this role, you’ll drive and have accountability for the delivery of multiple work streams, taking them from approval to build, through to release, completion and handover. These could include reviewing opportunity planning, design overview, route feasibility and Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) premises / wayleave areas. In particular, you’ll be looking for the challenges and complexities that have the potential to impact our work, such as things like traffic management or footpath and carriageway conditions for example, using your experience and tenacity to minimise impact to delivery or cost.

You'll manage all build activity ensuring everything is in accordance with our high standards as well as NRSWA and Code of Practice for co-ordination of Street Works compliance. This will all result in a clean handover for activation / install of services and to network assurance and or the end customer - all whilst within budget and CPP.

You’ll also play a primary role in the ongoing relationships we have with local authorities, since they’ll be key to the delivery and coordination of the works! Using your exceptional communication skills you'll keep both internal and external parties in the loop with what’s happening. This could involve attendance at meetings, visits and also possibly dealing with complaint management at times too.

Ultimately, this role gives you great ownership of your workstack and the autonomy to own the job, as our business continues to grow.

The must haves

  • Extensive knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry and Civils Engineering.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of CDM Regulations.

  • As you’ll be travelling across multiple sites, you’ll need a full clean driving license.

Other stuff we’re looking for

  • NRSWA Supervisor course (Knowledge & experience) would be highly beneficial!

  • PIA accreditation.

  • Commercial Awareness (NEC4) - understands basic revenue models, P&L, and cost-to-completion projections.

Next steps

If we feel like a place where you can belong, we'd love to learn more about you. Once you've submitted an application the next steps of the process, if successful, are likely to include a competency based interview.

When you apply, you'll be asked about any adjustments you might need to support the recruitment process. Let us know, and we'll be sure to discuss it with you. Thanks for your patience in the meantime and for showing an interest in joining the Virgin Media O2 family.
