About the role

We are growing our Corporate Affairs team and are now on the lookout for a Press Office Manager to join us. This role will support all press office and issues management activity for both Virgin Media and O2, including identifying issues and areas to proactively campaign on to improve and protect the reputation of Virgin Media O2.

You’ll join our small team, working as the first point of call for media enquiries and managing a busy press office for both Virgin Media and O2. From managing media enquiries to planning announcements, tracking and evaluating media coverage through to spotting potential issues, you’ll get stuck into helping communicate everything we do as a business. 


When you spot risks or issues you’ll work to tackle them and help deliver proactive corporate communications campaigns to protect our reputation. 
You’ll build and maintain strong media relationships, particularly among technology, consumer and personal finance journalists, and will play an important role in helping the team prepare for and handle major incidents, crises and corporate announcements.

A proactive individual with an inquisitive attitude who can think on their feet and see roadblocks ahead. You’ll be keen to learn, will enjoy investigating and unpicking issues always thinking two moves ahead. You’ll be organised, thrive when working under pressure and love getting under the skin of potential risks and issues. Oh, and you’ll be an excellent communicator and a people person, too. 


The must haves:


•    Excellent communications skills – both written and oral
•    Solid understanding of the UK media landscape gained through proven Media Relations/PR experience
•    Ability to showcase strong communications judgement and issues handling skills
•    Demonstrable experience working in a busy press office
