Field Sales Representative

Please note you’ll need a UK Manual driving licence with a maximum of 8 points to apply for this role.

Salary: £38,000 OTE (18k basic + uncapped commission) plus company car

Shifts: 37.5 hours per week – Working hours are between 12pm and 9pm Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required on Saturdays. Your Line Manager will let you know your shift pattern in advance, which could vary from time to time.

Start date: From October 2020


Door to door sales isn’t for everyone, we know it’s a tough gig.

It’s also one of the most important and successful sales teams at Virgin Media. It’s for all these reasons you’ll be able to earn uncapped commission on top of a decent basic salary!

Every day is different, with plenty of challenges and obstacles to overcome when visiting people’s homes to promote Virgin Media products.

We’re looking for resilient sales-minded people with a great work ethic, to be the face of our trusted fibre, TV, mobile and phone products, and services.

The Role

This is no desk-based job. And won’t suit those looking for a 9-5 lifestyle. For the right person it can be a uniquely rewarding challenge. Spending your time outdoors and on the road, you’ll have your own dedicated territory to sell to, with full control when it comes to planning your routes.

Typically, you’ll knock on around 175 doors a day. You’ll find that potential customers are often reluctant to discuss products, or their current provider package at first. You’ll take this in your stride without ever being pushy, listening carefully to what they have to say, and making a judgment on whether there is an opportunity for a potential sale, as well as which products would be most suited to them.

Our teams usually get the best results outside of office working hours – late afternoon or evening is when most people are available at home. Largely you’ll be working on your own, but you’ll have the full support of your team and your manager. Working outside in the summer is a bonus but you’ll need to be comfortable braving the cold winters too.

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need experience in sales or tech products. But this is something for a natural talker.

You won’t always hear the customer say those magic words ‘sign me up’ – so it’s also how you handle rejection that counts. Resilient? Unflappable? Always want to do better? Then we’d love to sign you up.

You’ll also bring:

  • A knack for forging strong relationships. You’ll love meeting and speaking to all sorts of new people

We’ll kick things off with a 9-day training course, to bring you up to speed on everything we offer, as well as providing you with tips and recommendations for matching potential customers to the right service or product.

This will be a blend of virtual and face to face training, and you’ll need to spend a couple of nights away from home at one of our residential training centres during this induction. We’ll of course talk all of this through with you nearer the time.
