About the role

The Data Source Ingestion Team forms a key part of Data Delivery for Virgin Media O2. The team delivers new data ingestion pipelines as part of wider data deliveries as well as directly for stakeholders. Alongside Delivery activities the team are continually looking to improve our frameworks, processes and capabilities of the team.

As part of delivering our company wide Data strategy, we are looking for a Data Engineer!

You will use ground breaking technologies on GCP and on-premises to design and build outstanding data pipelines (both batch & real-time) to provide relevant data to Data analysts, Data Scientists and Digital product teams.

Please note: This is a 13 month FTC

The must haves

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

• Data ingestion design and implementation from internal / external sources & APIs

• Code data pipelines as per provided design using GCP components like Big Query, Dataflow, Cloud Composer.

• Perform code review and peer review with Designer or Architect

• Support any deployment and launch activities and transition documents

• Run and monitor the data integration processes

• Find opportunities to apply automation or other tools to improve effectiveness or efficiency

The other stuff we're looking for

We'd also love you to bring;

• Knowledge on implementing applications using Kubernetes.

• Experienced in dbt

• Have used Cloud Composer or Apache Airflow for job automation and orchestration.

• Experience in having worked in an Agile environment
