About the role
As the Contract Manager (Retention & Exit) you will be responsible for assuring contract control and contract optimisation for our major customer contracts within the renewal or exit strategy. You will provide high quality Commercial leadership and deliver incremental revenue and OCF through contract optimisation, and apply rigorous and demonstrable contract control on contracts whilst maintaining customer relationships. You will support the execution of profitable contracts in line with contractual, legal, regulatory and business requirements, with particular emphasis on large and/or complex opportunities across Enterprise and Public Sector.
To manage major customer contracts & frameworks through renewal or exit across both Public Sector and Enterprise
To implement and assure contract control processes, procedures and mechanisms to deliver demonstrable rigour and control on contracts
To assure contract optimisation including delivery of incremental revenue and OCF including demonstrable commercial leadership on contracts
To ensure the wider business and operating teams are clear on all contractual obligations and our position against these is understood and managed by respective teams
To implement systems, processes and procedures to protect the risk profile of contractual obligations and achieve optimum value from the contracts on an ongoing basis
To provide ‘front-line’ support to the effective management and administration of the contracts entered into, including development and assurance of strong contract change control processes and systems
Regularly review performance against the Contract internally and with major customers, and to be a key interface with major customers
Provide relevant and accurate advice and prepare guidance on the commercial position of Contracts as required, including an awareness of the potential for challenges and matters to arise at key stages of the contract management process
Produce and manage appropriate Contract Reporting, as required for both standard reporting and Senior Management reporting
Drive cost base improvement by engaging with a range of internal and external stakeholders, researching background and making recommendations on commercial related matters
Optimise OCF through billing accuracy, debt collections and overall NPS of contracts
Have an understanding of a Contract P&L for contracts aligned to, and be prepared to identify risk and mitigation activities for leading indicators
To contribute to the ongoing development of the Contract Management Function, identifying and delivering opportunities for improvement
Develop submissions to SLT and IC for major deals on the contracts you are allocated to

To succeed in this role, you will need to have strong contractual and commercial awareness, with the ability to confidently and effectively build relationships with your stakeholders and customers. You’ll be proactive in your approach and use your initiative to identify contract optimisation opportunities and/or resolve issues before they arise, whilst probing for specific information in order to understand complex issues. The nature of this role may present changing situations and complex environments, so the ability to adapt and maintain effectiveness is key, whilst showing enthusiasm and drive to succeed. Your main focus will be on the renewal or exit strategy of each contract, so we're keen to see your working experience of this.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Vast experience of working with complex contracts and frameworks, a high level of comfort with contractual terms and conditions and an in-depth understanding of contract management at the renewal and/or exit stages
Proven commercial contract management track record with ability to improve business performance, best-in-class negotiation, relationship management and influencing skills at a senior level
Outstanding commercial acumen and financial awareness, ensuring contract clauses are unambiguous, achieve desired commercial outcomes and are legally compliant
Experience of managing contract commercials and the impact of decisions on budgets / forecasts with the ability to assimilate, understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues
Previous experience and demonstrable achievement in a contract management role ideally within the IT/Telecoms B2B market
Educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications and/or experience preferable in a numerate or legal discipline
