Commercial Manager – Mobile In-Life Trading

Hammersmith, London W6 8BS

To £56,000 per annum,up-to 15% annual bonus and other excellent benefits.

Our commercial function acts as the architect of our revenue growth in the consumer division through proposition development and design, base management, acquisition/in-life trading, pricing and forecasting. The team works cross-functionally to lead process design which creates our portfolio of profit-maximising products and packages, leading to growth in operating cash flow increases our NPS and optimises ROI.

The role

Working within the wider Mobile Trading Team, the base value role is vital in ensuring we meet and exceed our growth goals. Our Customer Base is our biggest financial asset and is at the very core of our annual revenue and OCF.

The objective of this role is to understand our contract base (better than anyone else!) and the key activities we can undertake to increase revenue and profitability. You’ll be responsible for ensuring we do the right things for our customers, growing value through tariff upsell, migration, cross sell and cost management.  You’ll take complex insight and turn it into clear actions to grow our business.

Principle responsibilities

  •  Support 5G migrations strategy to maximise the profitability of our 4G and 5G customer bases across multiple mobile network operators

  •  Support trading teams by delivering detailed analysis and ongoing monitoring of base performance on an array of key metrics (including: OCF, MRC, ARPU, AMPU) and working with the rest of the mobile team to take corrective action and deliver continued growth 

  • FMC mobile lead working closely with wider commercial teams – understand, track performance and drive value from this base (churn, activation, upsell)

  • Lead on long term mobile churn strategy – looking for problem areas and tackling them

  • Deliver mobile base value framework, working closely with cable colleagues and teams delivering customer propensity models

  • Monitor and interpret customer behaviour to ensure the base remains profitable by looking for opportunities to optimise customer usage or behaviour – exploring new ways to draw out key insights

  • Identify unprofitable customers and explore opportunities to monetise their current behaviours  Create, execute and lead a successful tariff upsell and cross-sell strategy 

  • Analysing the end to end customer experience and identifying key areas to drive improvement to support increased spend and tenure 

  • Key support on price rise, loyalty and value growth campaigns

  • Assessing opportunity to reduce ongoing credits and one off credit spend on customer accounts 

  • Run right size campaigns to reduce customer bill shock and drive loyalty

Required experience

  • Degree level education or equivalent (not a firm requirement) 

  • A strong understanding of a commercial environment and basic understanding of finance and an ability to create business cases 

  • Telecommunications background PreferableTrack record of analysing data and actioning insight to create desirable outcomes

  • Strong Excel skills 

  • Ideal candidate would have accountancy qualifications or several years’ experience in a pricing / strategy role in a telco business
