Role: Accounting Advisory Manager - Financial Control
Location: Hammersmith OR Bradford

Role purpose

To support the Head of Accounting and Financial Control team in delivering timely and accurate interpretation and application of applicable accounting standards, and working pragmatically with divisional finance teams to provide and document practical accounting implementation guidance. As some of the Financial Control team work in Hammersmith and some in Bradford, there may be a small element of travel involved.

Principal Responsibilities

* Providing pragmatic accounting support to divisional accounting teams in relation to new product offerings, propositions, and strategic initiatives.
* Working across the wider finance organisation to keep the practical implementation of current accounting policies relevant and in accordance with both internal and external guidance.
* Be the first point of contact within Group Financial Control for accounting questions from Virgin Media’s accounting services teams.
* Maintain a close relationship with other VM and LG corporate functions, including treasury, legal & regulatory, to ensure accurate & considered accounting of non-routine transactions on a monthly basis.
* Participation in monthly and quarterly close governance review processes to robustly and constructively challenge the accounting judgements and estimates applied.
* Adhoc financial control projects as necessary, including evaluation of commercial, tax, treasury, and legal transactions.

Qualifications & Key skills

* Minimum of two years PQE gained with a Big Four accounting firm, ideally with exposure to US GAAP through working with a large corporate’s accounting and reporting functions
* Strong technical accounting skills
* The aptitude to articulate complex concepts in a straightforward manner
* Strong organisational skills
* Work independently in a matrix to meet deadlines and push projects through to completion
* The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
