This role has been created as part of the significant investment Virgin Media is making into its data, CRM and analytics function in 2018, where we are dramatically expanding the team in order to further tap in to our extensive, rich datasets.

Our campaign operations department is responsible for the planning and delivery of DM, email and outbound campaigns, as well as for digital targeting, personalisation and to develop new and improved CRM systems and processes.

Role purpose

You’ll manage a portfolio of data operations and provides design and delivery of data processing solutions in support of a business, operational or functional area and in particular those that underpin marketing campaigns (prospect & customer). This requires the preparation of customer and prospect data, ensuring the quality, relevance, compliance and timeliness of deliverables meets the agreed data brief.

Principal responsibilities
* Plans and maintains the work stack for projects and data processes within the area, advising on methodology to deliver objectives and within timescales.
* Delivers accurate data for customer and prospect comms, against an agreed brief and requirements
* Applies comprehensive specialist knowledge of concepts, techniques and procedures of data processing to the completion of complex assignments.
* Advises on data governance and data protection matters in connection to projects, escalating and drawing in further guidance when required
* Develops and manages operational capabilities and deliverables (e.g. campaign activities, production reporting and data processing)
* Drives progressive improvements in approaches used to increase value of the outputs
* Works with client stakeholders to define requirements, negotiate priorities and communicate results, including frequent and proactive interactions and engagement with related teams and day-to-day internal supplier and client relationships on a regular basis.
* Works as part of a project team with data providers, vendors and agencies and with those within Insight Operations agreeing resource and delivery scheduling
* Plans for operational projects up to 3 months ahead of demand, including design, deliverables and timescales;
* Supervision is minimal and largely outcome based.
* May manage a small cross-functional team (1 or more) or process and be responsible for the professional development of that team.

What we’re ideally looking for
* Subject matter expert in direct marketing processes and data-driven decisioning processes
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills, comfortable at working at all levels.
* Strong negotiation skills at a senior level, both internally within Virgin Media and externally amongst agency groups and key interfaces.

* Consulting skills are developed to core level.
* Good knowledge of data processing compliance and operational integrity processes
* Great organisational and planning skills in marketing project delivery management, able to prioritise tasks efficiently and deal with multiple requirements accurately
* Experiencing of coaching and/or managing team members as part of a project or BAU activity

* Well developed business acumen with ability to help shape business requirements and make commercial judgements
* Good working knowledge of industry recognised tools, including MS Excel / Project / Word / Powerpoint, and detailed knowledge of marketing delivery tools, including Adobe Campaign or Unica.
* Knowledge of marketing test structure and the statistical tests behind them (to a core level)
* Experience of end to end email delivery process within a campaign tool such as Adobe campaign, and sharing of outputs from traditional contact channels to Digital and Social Media environments.
* Experience of coordinating information and selections across multiple channels including contact centres, with coordination with the likes of Pega and Salesforce systems.
* Experience of developing complex campaign automations and selections. Examples would include detailed, multi-stage trigger activity, loyalty scheme comms, or those campaigns with a high degree of segmentation.

Technical skills we’re looking for
* Good knowledge of database marketing and appropriate use of data, including, regulatory and legal issues
* Project management qualification or industry recognised accreditation is desirable (e.g. IDM)
* Detailed business user knowledge of marketing process management and automation tools such as Adobe Campaign or Unica
* 3+ years proven experience in managing and leading successful client relationships and project teams

* 5+ years of one-to-one marketing delivery experience in high volume, multi-channel customer communications environments, providing key consulting input to process design

* Strong attention to detail in a high pressure, sometimes regulated, environment
* Provides technical supervision when required for junior staff and ad-hoc mentoring of junior team members.
* Ability to make sound judgments aligned with overall benefit to the business, with an understanding of the ‘big picture’.
