Senior Insight Developer


Location: Manchester


Salary: £35-50k depending on experience + excellent benefits

This is an exciting time to join Virgin Media as a Senior Insight Developer within the Insight team, Field Operations. Reporting into the Insight Development Manager you’ll be a part of a fast moving development team where you will be responsible for maintaining existing reporting and data processes as well as delivering new insight to meet business requirements.

You will play an active part in engaging with business stakeholders, capturing and translating business requirements into functional specifications for insight solutions and then delivering those solutions.

Ultimately you are supporting the Field organisation helping them to meet their goals by developing reporting for the front line and management as well as support for the analyst community in the team to deliver compelling insight.

Role Purpose

Key Accountabilities:
* Develop new insight through new data feeds and new business reports.
* Have oversight of legacy SAS and SQL processes with responsibility for key business processes such as Aspire, Contractor Payments and Target loads.
* Develop control testing, fault logging and process documentation to ensure robust governance and controls are in place and adhered to.
* Own or support the delivery of change requests from the business or through internally driven transformation activity.
* Look for ways to continuously improve data production and data visualisation.
* Bring new technologies and practices into the team to further improve the services presented to the Field Operations business.

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
* A career background with SQL Server with proven experience developing ETL through SSIS.
* Critical attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem solving.
* Knowledge and experience of BI publishing tools such as QlikView, OBIEE and Business Objects.
* Experience in designing and building corporate Data Warehouses and Analysis Services Cubes.
* An ability to work independently on multiple deliverables planning, prioritising and communicating appropriately throughout.
* Experience with SAS is not essential but would be advantageous.
