Legal Counsel - VMB

Hook, RG27 9UP

Competitive salary + bonus + excellent benefits

This is an exciting time to join Virgin Media as a Legal Counsel - Virgin Media Business (VMB). Working with the Head of Legal - VMB, you will pro-actively business partner our B2B function, Virgin Media Business (VMB), providing relevant commercial legal advice and guidance. This may include advice in connection with terms and conditions relating to VMB products and propositions, commercial bid management, sales and marketing, contract negotiation, claims disputes and other VMB related product and service agreements.
Focusing on the provision of legal and policy advice to enable VMB to meet its objectives, your duties will be wide ranging, but ultimately you will be responsible for:

* Partnering with the business in the provision of legal advice and/or the setting of policy; working closely with the business, and occasionally sitting within the business in order to build relationships and better understand key legal issues.
* Responding to internal and external contacts in a timely and effective manner. Proactively progressing matters to a conclusion through efficient and effective planning and management to meet competing demands.
* Identifying areas of risk in relation to VMB legal matters, including related regulatory matters, and assisting in providing solutions to manage these risks. Escalating important issues or concerns and seeking assistance and direction where appropriate.
* Seeking feedback from the business, external partners or clients to ensure quality of service and work output is maintained to the highest standards and that deliverables and expectations are exceeded.
* Staying up to date with legal developments and key business information, remaining aware of the marketplace and VMB’s position within it.
* Sharing knowledge with the legal department as a whole, taking an active role in departmental educational opportunities, periodic departmental meetings and other initiatives designed to promote departmental communication and cohesiveness.
* Leading by example, developing standards and practices for the business functional area, motivating and informing other lawyers within the department to provide the best possible legal advice and support.
* Supporting other legal departments when necessary, taking on responsibilities to support the legal function and business as a whole.
Everyone in our Legal team has a proactive and collaborative approach to work, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to deliver to tight deadlines. If you join us as a Legal Counsel - VMB we would want you to have:

* Significant and demonstrable commercial law experience, with at least 2 years PQE, preferably gained both in private practice within a top city-style law firm and in-house in a commercial environment.
* Proven experience providing legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters within the B2B setting.
* Experience working within the telecoms-tech-media industry or similar - highly desirable but not essential.
* Skilled influencing and negotiating skills at all levels.

* Resilience, discretion and the ability to deal with sensitive issues.
