Business Manager to UK T&I MD

Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to enable the MD, Technology Integration and Operations (MD, TIO) and the UK T&I Leadership Team to perform effectively, supporting the MD, TIO as a member of the Executive Committee of Virgin Media, the leader of the UK T&I function and also as part of the wider Liberty Global T & I Leadership team. Support the UK T&I leadership team to deliver the T&I roadmap and strategic projects, in order to support and to deliver the UKs growth agenda. The ideal candidate for this role would have a business administration degree or similar, some work experience in a large corporate environment, perhaps as an Analyst, Business Intelligence Support role, A Project Planner or an EA. A confident and assertive communication style is required with an ability to plan, organise and support our Executive Team day to day. The salary banding for this position reflects this level of experience. This is not an executive level role.

The Business Manager should ensure that the MD, TIO and the UK T&I LT have the content, data and insight required to operate in a fast changing, complex and dynamic environment. The role holder will be required to keep a keen eye on the moving parts and ensure that there is strong alignment across the T&I team and the wider business on key elements of the business plan, including the delivery of the T&I ‘Top 30’ projects.

Principle Responsibilities
* Key document preparation. Directly accountable for the creation of some documentation for UK and LG T&I Leadership Team meetings and the VM Executive Committee meetings. Accountable for liaising with key internal stakeholders to source the required inputs, data and insight in an accurate and timely way. Also accountable for the ‘quality control’ of documents inputted by UK T&I Leadership Team members to ensure that there is consistency of message and content in line with the T&I roadmap and strategy.
* Influence internal workflows: Manage the work-flow of internal teams to cater towards the needs of the MD, TIO and the organisation; owning delivery of outputs that sit across multiple functions, sequencing and purpose of UK and LG T&I meetings, preparation of management meetings, coordinating issues and tasks, sharing and disseminating information, thinking ahead.
* Align the priorities. Liaise with key colleagues in the UK and wider LG T&I team to enable the UK T&I leadership Team to anticipate priorities and activity, so that there is the opportunity to influence the timing, relative priority and development of solutions. Work across the UK and LG T&I teams to ‘join the dots’ on projects and priorities to facilitate a joined-up approach.
* T&I Governance and GDO: working closely with the T&I GDO Leadership Team and PMO to ensure that there is strong governance in place across the UK T&I roadmap and agendas that are aligned to priorities.
* UK T&I Team budgets: support the MD, TIO to have good insight and governance of the UK T&I functional budget. Liaise with LG T&I members and Finance partners to ensure that budgets are regularly reviewed as a leadership team, with shared accountability across the function for managing this and agreeing spend priorities.
* Communication: Working with the MD, TIO, on the internal communications and engagement plan for the UK T&I function. Ensure that all internal and external communications have a seamless and coherent message from the MD, TIO, aligned to the T&I strategy and roadmap.
* Preparedness. Be accountable for the MD,TIO having the presentations, content, briefing and data required to be effective in internal and external meetings. Ensure that any follow-up actions required by the MD, TIO are achieved.
* MD, TIO work planning. Works closely with the EA as appropriate to support with daily routine, information triage and exchange, meeting management, MD, TIO travel preparation.
* Provide feedback and insight. The role should provide a ‘temperature check’ to the MD, TIO; providing insight on where the MD, TIO may need to pay more/less focus and attention through having strong and trusting relationships across the business and through reviewing UK and LG T&I insight data and key metrics.
